GOP in hot water as Democrats embrace people without Lincoln Center season tickets

Obama-Biden Transition Project

By realizing that 90% of Americans believe in God and maybe having a national debt of $10 billion isn’t as cool as it sounds, the Democrats have swept to power across much of the nation, controlling both houses of Congress, all but 14 state legislatures, 29 governorships, and, soon, the presidency. The Republicans, who have spent the past 40 years in power by pretending to care about poor and middle class folks who love God, are completely shocked by this development, and looking for explanations. The problem is, they didn’t do anything wrong, the Democrats just did something right for once. Howard Dean, Barack Obama, and Rahm Emanuel will go down in history as great geniuses for their controversial decision to court voters outside of the tri-state area.

According to The Politico:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said the party should take four primary steps: show no tolerance for corruption, practice what it preaches about limiting the scope of government (“There should not be such a thing as a Big-Government Republican”), stand for working families and small business, and embrace reform.

So pretty much, he believes that the GOP needs to start doing the things it has opposed from the start in the Utah legislature. That is not going to happen. If the Republicans did that, rural Utah and Provo voters would start a new party devoted to stopping reform and embracing corruption. It would help the GOP on a national scale, but most likely kill it in Utah.

If the GOP doesn’t stand for corruption and cronyism in the Beehive State, who will? The Democrats have spent the last ten years called for substantive ethics and fiscal reform in Utah. They are too far into this whole “decent human being” thing to quit now. And the Constitution Party opposes such measures because ethics reform is not a duty specifically set up in the Constitution and they have not yet been told the ninth and tenth amendments and “necessary and proper” clause exist yet. The Greens are far too wasted from their “Bong Hits 4 Nader” to pose any serious threat, and the Libertarians spend too much time coding open-source accounting programs to even run decent candidates. So, essentially, if the GOP wants to survive, it has to give up Utah. And that will most likely destroy the “traditional family” whatever that is.

“I would suggest that conservatives need to do the math of the new demographics of the United States,” said Jeb Bush. “We can’t be anti-Hispanic, anti-young person, anti-many things and be surprised when we don’t win elections.”

Another good place to start would be being actually conservative by embracing people bent on stabilizing society and advocating small government and a balanced budget. But alas, those planks have already been taken by the Democrats, as has concern in stopping the tragedy of abortion. True, Republicans can waste state money trying to overturn Roe v. Wade and artificially lower state abortion rates by having teenage girls to drive to adjacent states which do not require parental consent, but they absolutely cannot embrace actions that actually lead to a decrease in unwed pregnancies like sex education and raising people out of poverty. Maybe stopping giving huge amounts of taxpayer dollars to already-rich friends could help them, but, alas, that has been branded as the Democratic thing to do.
